Paulo Coelho de Souza was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 25 August
1947. He is a
Brazilian lyricist and novelist. He is best known for his widely translated novel
“The Alchemist”. It
is a story about a young shepherd who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. Choelho maried artist Christina Oiticicain in 1980. (Based on Wikipedia)
